About
THE HISTORY OF THE RAGDOLL

The ragdoll was created in the 1960's by breeder Ann Baker. This breed was the result of Ann Baker's regular non-pedigreed white domestic longhaired cat named Josephine being involved and subsequently injured in an accident involving a car. Josephine was a Persion/Angora type. The litter she bore was sired by several unknown male Birman or Burmese-like cats, one of which had the Siamese point coloration. The next litter after Josephine's recovery produced kittens with a docile, placid termperment, affectionate nature, a tendency to go limp and relaxed when picked up.
